Impacting Lives: Expanding Our Network
In May 2018, St. Luke’s Hospital acquired Des Peres Hospital. This acquisition allowed our extraordinary physicians and dedicated healthcare team to provide services in over 60 medical specialties at both of the acute care hospitals and more than 30 other locations in the greater St. Louis area.
More doctors in more locations
In the past year, we have added 75 physicians to our overall network of care, in particular 26 new physicians to the medical staff at
St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital. In addition, we have closely collaborated with physicians and patients to identify specialists needed at each location. This opportunity provided our patients and the community the access to more doctors and specialists in more locations.
More services in more locations
The acquisition of St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital provided an opportunity to expand specialty services including pulmonology, neurology, endocrinology and massage therapy and to reach out to communities in the greater St. Louis area with an increased primary care presence. In addition, the collaboration of our medical staffs allowed us to offer a full spectrum of weight management options from medical weight management, to intensive behavioral and nutrition therapy and diabetes self-management, to surgical weight loss.
The addition of the MyNewSelf Program to the St. Luke’s network of care provides patients with access to bariatric surgery services that includes several procedure options, pre-surgery education, post-surgery classes and personal nutrition and lifestyle counseling to support a longer, healthier and more active life. MyNewSelf is a comprehensive bariatric program accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®).
