Healthgrades America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery

St. Luke’s Hospital is the only hospital in Missouri to achieve this distinction two years in a row. The honor places St. Luke’s among the top 50 U.S. hospitals for superior results in coronary artery bypass grafting procedures and heart valve surgery.

Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery and Prostate Surgery

These designations recognize St. Luke’s Hospital for having superior outcomes in general and prostate surgeries including a lower risk of complications. The general surgery rating includes bowel obstruction, colorectal, esophageal/stomach, gallbladder removal and small intestine surgeries.

Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience Award

This award places St. Luke’s Hospital among the top 10% of hospitals nationwide based on an analysis of patient experience data. This is the 10th year in a row that St. Luke’s has received this award. To determine its 2020 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients, Healthgrades evaluated hospitals across the country that submitted patient surveys for admissions from April 2018 through March 2019 to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Hospitals had to meet survey response size and clinical quality thresholds in order to be eligible for the award.

Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS)

The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) is a patient survey and data collection tool required by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for all hospitals in the United States to measure patients’ perspectives on hospital care.

Based on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) data, both St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital have received an overall star rating of 4 (on a 5-point scale) for patient satisfaction.

SHP Best Superior Performer Patient Satisfaction Award for Home Health Services

St. Luke’s Home Health Services earned the 2019 SHP Best™ Superior Performer patient satisfaction award. This honor recognizes home health agencies that consistently provide high quality to their patients and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the Home Health Care Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS).

CMS 5-Star Overall Quality

St. Luke’s Hospital placed in the top 9% of hospitals nationally for the Medicare Quality Star Ratings by the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) with a 5-star rating. Medicare devised a method using results from over 50 measures in seven categories to assign a quality rating to hospitals on a scale of 1 to 5 stars.

Best Nursing Homes for Short-Stay Rehabilitation

St. Luke’s Surrey Place has been named a “Best Nursing Home for Short-Stay Rehabilitation” by U.S. News & World Report for two years in a row. This distinction places St. Luke’s Surrey Place among the top 1.5% of nursing homes in Missouri to receive this short-stay rehabilitation top rating.

Women’s Choice Award® Honors

St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield and St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital have been recognized with multiple 2020 Women’s Choice Award honors for excellence in healthcare. The 2020 awards recognize St. Luke’s Hospital as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Cancer Care, Heart Care, Obstetrics, Orthopedics and Patient Safety as well as one of America’s Best Breast Care Centers and Stroke Centers.

St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital received 2020 America’s Best Hospitals designations for Bariatric Surgery and Orthopedics. WomenCertified Inc., an advocate for female consumers, created the national Women’s Choice Award program which identifies the nation’s best healthcare institutions. Its award methodology includes measures of clinical excellence, female patient satisfaction and more.

Get With The Guidelines® – Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award

St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital is a recipient of the 2020 Get With The Guidelines®-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines founded in the latest scientific evidence. The goal is speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for heart failure patients. This marks the tenth year that St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital has been recognized with a quality achievement award for heart failure and the eighth year as a Gold Plus provider.

Leapfrog Patient Safety Designation

St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital was awarded an ‘A’ in The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2020 Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes the hospital’s efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization that works to improve healthcare quality and safety.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign letter grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals across the country. The Safety Grade is updated every six months, and it assesses how well the hospital prevents medical errors and other harm to patients.
